Lawson’s Delicatessen in Aldeburgh has been popular with locals and visitors for many years and has won numerous awards. We became the owners in January 2017 and have reinvigorated the shop and added some exciting new products.

Running Lawson’s is a dream for us and we are looking forward to sharing our passion for British artisan cheese and the fantastic array of food and drink produced in Suffolk.

You will find the same friendly and knowledgeable team. Do call in to sample some cheese or chat to us about how prepared meals and soups made in our own kitchen.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

The Lawson's Story

Lawson’s was founded in 2006 by Richard Lawson and Claire Bruce-Clayton serving the Aldeburgh community and visitors with delicious cheese, ham, speciality foods and home-made pies, tarts, and salads. Lawson's won Best Delicatessen in the Suffolk Food and Drink Awards in 2011, 2009, 2008 and 2007. In 2010 they won the much coveted national award, Deli of the Year.

In January 2017 Claire and Richard sold the business to Clare Jackson and John Ormerod.

Lawson's - the next chapter

Lawson's new owners are father and daughter, John Ormerod and Clare Jackson. We have been visiting Aldeburgh for 30 years and Clare has recently moved to just outside Woodbridge with her husband and three boys. We love the Suffolk coast, the beaches, sailing and crabbing.

We're passionate about British artisan cheese and excited about sharing our enthusiasm with you our customers. We're delighted to be keeping the the full Lawson's team on board so you will see the same friendly faces when you visit the shop.
